Improving Your Skin

A few months ago, I realized that there were some big time issues with my skin. I was always breaking out, I felt like I was always dealing with dry skin, and I felt like my complexion was perpetually spotty. Fortunately, a friend of mine recommended a great dermatologist who really understood what I was up against. We met about once every few weeks for the first month or so, and then we transitioned into more of a maintenance routine. Now, I honestly feel like I have the best skin of my life, and it is all thanks to my dermatology team. This blog is all about improving your skin.

Why You Should Always Get Advice From A Pediatric Dermatologist When It Comes To Your Child's Skin Conditions

Children can face a number of different skin conditions that are common across cultural and ethnic groups. Skin problems do not discriminate, and it is important that you, as a parent, make sure that your child has the best possible care for their current condition that they can get. While you might have had a similar problem when you are young and a certain remedy helped you, that does not mean it will always work as well for your child. Here are a few common skin conditions that you should go to a pediatric dermatology clinic to get a specific diagnosis about what your child is facing.

Eczema can present itself in a range of different severities and in multiple areas of the body so no two treatment plans will be exactly alike. While it is true that there are a number of lotions and medical ointments that can help ease the pain and in some cases reduce the symptoms, it is more about managing this condition than outright trying to cure it. Changing your perspective on eczema is important in accepting what kinds of treatment will work best for your child in their current state and as they grow older and their body changes.

Moles Or Warts

Moles and warts are two very different problems that are often lumped together unfairly. Moles really only need to be checked to see if they have cancerous growths in them (which is quite rare in children, but still worth a check if your child has unusually sized moles) whereas warts are a frustrating condition that can be fixed with proper care. A pediatric dermatology clinic will be able to figure out exactly what type of warts your child has and, if they are in a particularly annoying area like on their hands and fingers, if they can be safely removed.

Acne has often been a stereotype of growing children, but really it can happen to anyone at any time. A lot of the time acne in children and teenagers can be managed with a proper skincare routine and access to more potent creams that a pediatric dermatologist can prescribe for them. If your child is really struggling with their confidence or has asked you repeatedly for help with their acne, then the only true way to provide a long-lasting and effective change is by going to a dermatologist and getting the correct medicine and treatment plan.
